About Project
Media Platform to end GBV (MPTEGBV)” is a three years project from March 2019 to December 2023 aimed at contributing to the improvement of the living conditions of women and men through support that promote gender equality and parity, empowerment of women, democracy, good governance and respect for human rights in Zanzibar.
Project Objectives
To ensure the prevention of and response to Gender Based Violence promoted, through the media campaign to influence behavior changes and strengthen legal frameworks and mechanisms for public and community actions.
Expected Results
1. Increased Media Coverage on Gender Based Violence in the five targeted Districts (North A, Mkoani, West, South Unguja and Wete Pemba)
2. Increased Media engagement on actors of GBV including likeminded organizations and Ministries, Departmental and Agencies (MDAs)
3. Strengthened TAMWA’s Institutional capacity and monitoring and evaluation systems to provide better services to the communities

Project Partners
TAMWA Zanzibar is working with grass root networks from all five targeted districts, district GBV committees, like minded organizations and Young Media Fellows.
Project Focus areas
Geographically, the project covers five targeted Districts namely; North A, Mkoani, West, South Unguja and Wete Pemba.
Target groups
The project intends to reach survivors (girls and boys) and women groups, grass root networks, journalists, stakeholders and community based organizations in Zanzibar that directly or indirectly contribute to the accessing of justice to the GBV victims.
