TAMWA is a national level Non-Governmental Organization known as Tanzania Media Women’s Association formed in 1987. TAMWA Zanzibar became fully self-governing and operational in both Isles of Unguja and Pemba since 2004. In January 2007, it attained its own separate registration.

Tanzania Media Women’s Association (TAMWA), Zanzibar calls for applications from committed personnel preferably a woman and Peoples with disabilities to the position of Office Coordinator for Pemba Office.

DESCRIPTION:

This position holds the responsibility of overseeing TAMWA, ZNZ office in Pemba coordinating all program and financial activities in collaboration with responsible staff and relevant actors. In reaching the envisioned objective, the office coordinator is expected to prepare sound plans, reports and collect relevant information from within and outside the organization for informed policy action.

QUALIFICATION:

  1. Master degree in Business Administration, Project Planning Management, Mass communication, Gender and Development, Organizational Development or related field.
  2. Commitment to working confidentially, responsibly and with respect for legal ethics.
  3. Ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative required.
  4. Fluent written and oral knowledge of English and Kiswahili.
  5. Comfortable working within a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural team
  6. Knowledge on organizational skills and basic computer skills.

EXPERIENCE:

At least five years’ relevant professional work experience in the areas of projects management, projects coordination, Monitoring and Evaluation with focus on empowerment of women / children rights and Peoples with disabilities (PWDs) in all aspect of social, political and economic arena.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Understand all projects/programs undertaken by TAMWA, ZNZ against its Strategic Plan which basically focus on economic empowerment and justice, democratic governance, Reforms of legal frameworks and GBV/ VAWC response mechanisms, gender rights and Institutional strengthening.
  2. Coordinate and stay on track with all project/program activities in Pemba with quality and quantity assurance.
  3. Support Program Officers under their thematic areas to plan, implement and report projects/programs in due time.
  4. Work closely with the Program Manager and Head of Finance and Administration to appoint specific activities and actors in reaching the overall objective of field and administrative work.
  5. Be creative and innovative to encourage new approaches and strategies to ensure that projects/program goals are reached with sound impact.
  1. Work closely with the specialized staff to ensure smooth implementation of projects/program such as Communication Manager, Monitoring & Evaluation specialist, program officers and field officers in both Unguja and Pemba.
  2. Regularly collect information from the program and outside to address gender equality issues to inform policy analysis and advocacy work
  3. Highlight and prepare advocacy materials such as press releases, press briefings in collaboration with the Communication Manager timely.
  4. Write the project proposals in collaboration with Director, Communication Manager and Monitoring and Evaluation specialist.
  5. Work closely with the communication Department to update /initiate the online tools and platforms.
  6. Ensure close collaboration with likeminded institutions including national and local government parastatals, Civil Society Organizations and/or other Development Partners.
  7. Make sure periodic reports including quarter reports, semi-annual reports and annual reports are made and delivered with the required standard.
  8. Work close with the Financial Department to make sure that financial regulations are met according to TAMWA and Development Partners regulations.
  9. Seek advice from your supervisor especial on field activity planning and development of implementation strategies.
  10. Perform any other relevant tasks as assigned by the Director.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

  1. Demonstrated depth of experience and effectiveness preferably in CSOs context in working with community and organizations.
  2. Strategic, creative, and innovative thinking.
  3. A successful track record in coordinating / managing projects
  4. Decision making and problem-solving skills
  5. Knowledge in using logical frameworks and project monitoring.
  6. Leadership skills to encourage, support, coach and mentor others.
