TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR MENTORING CONTENT CREATORS ON PRODUCING AN IMPACT BASED CONTENTS RELATED TO WOMEN’S LEADERSHIP & GENDER EQUALITY

  1. BACKGROUND

Tanzania Media Women’s Association is a national Non-Governmental Organization founded in 1987 and dedicated to working towards promotion of the rights of women and children in Zanzibar. TAMWA -Zanzibar became fully fledged office in 2004 and was reregistered in 2007.

TAMWA – ZNZ is currently implementing the project titled” Strengthen Women in Leadership (SWIL)” aimed at increasing the participation of women in democratic processes and leadership at all levels of society so that women will be undertaken in all eleven districts of Zanzibar, seven districts in Unguja and four districts in Pemba. These are Unguja South, North, Urban, West “A” and West “B” and Pemba, Wete, Micheweni, Mkoani, and Chakechake. The project will be in partnership between TAMWA Zanzibar, JUWAUZA, ZAFELA, and PEGAO in Pemba with the support from Royal Norwegian Embassy.

As part of this initiative, TAMWA Zanzibar will engage mentors to provide technical guidance and support to content creators, equipping them with the skills to produce impactful, gender-sensitive content that promotes women’s leadership and gender equality.

  1. OBJECTIVE

The objective of this mentorship program is to build the capacity of content creators to design, produce, and share impactful content across different media and online platforms that:

  • Promotes women’s leadership and gender equality.
  • Challenges harmful stereotypes against women leaders.
  • Inspires social change and encourages the community to support women in decision-making positions.
  1. EXPECTED OUTPUT

By the end of the mentorship program, content creators will have:

  • Produced at least 5 pieces of impactful content (videos, blogs, reels, podcasts, or other digital formats) on women’s leadership and gender equality.
  • Improved capacity to create engaging, ethical, and gender-sensitive digital content.
  • Increased presence and engagement on social media platforms in amplifying women’s voices.
  1. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE MENTOR

Mentor will specifically perform the following tasks;

  • Review and provide feedback on draft content to ensure quality, impact, and gender sensitivity.
  • Conduct regular follow-up and coaching sessions with content creators.
  • Facilitate peer-to-peer learning and participatory sessions for experience sharing.
  • Submit a comprehensive mentoring report with recommendations to TAMWA ZNZ.
  • Work closely with TAMWA ZNZ officers for effective delivery of the assignment.
  1. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

The incumbent will have to possess:

  • University degree (at least bachelor level) in Mass Communication, Gender and Community Development, Policy Analysis, leadership and management or equivalent.
  • Expertise in journalism and related fields.
  • Knowledge of and active user of social media platforms
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with TAMWA’s programming and processes.
  • Ability to work with teams.
  • Excellent communications and writing skills in English.
  • Good presentation skills.
  1. EXPERIENCE

Mentor should have not less than five years of experience in Communications, Management, Organization Development, Gender issues as well conversant with Zanzibar social context and its dynamics. Multidiscipline experience within development organizations and NGOs is highly desirous.

  1. TIMEFRAME

The work will be undertaken for Six Months from 02nd June 2025 to 02nd Dec 2025.
