Program Overview

TAMWA Zanzibar aims to enhance its institutional capacity, membership affairs, and overall sustainability. The goal is to strengthen TAMWA Zanzibar as a prominent, well-governed gender rights institution, secure its long-term viability, and address potential risks such as financial constraints. This initiative will address institutional challenges and ensure that TAMWA Zanzibar continues to thrive, even in the face of uncertainties like the impact of COVID-19 on donor funding.

Objective

The objective is to improve TAMWA Zanzibar's institutional governance, this includes scaling up its capacity to deliver on its strategic goals, ensuring organizational resilience, and promoting a strong and active membership base that aligns with its mission.

Context:

While TAMWA Zanzibar has made significant strides in building its institutional capacity, the need to transform into a larger, authoritative entity with secure funding and governance systems remains a priority. Given the challenges posed by external factors such as global financial shifts and the post-pandemic environment, TAMWA Zanzibar must adopt a strategic approach to address risks, strengthen its governance, and maintain its best practices.

Approaches & Strategies

TAMWA Zanzibar aims to strengthen its institutional capacity and ensure sustainability through several key strategies. These include retaining and motivating staff, recruiting professionals to address skill gaps, and providing capacity-building sessions for the Board and members. The organization will develop new policies such as a Resource Mobilization Strategy, Digital Security Policy, and Gender Policy, among others. It will also enhance its visibility and income generation by establishing online platforms like a website and TV. A dedicated portfolio will manage membership affairs, focusing on professional development, interest protection, and satisfaction monitoring. Regular evaluations and updates to key policies will ensure ongoing growth and adaptability. These strategies will help TAMWA Zanzibar solidify its foundation and expand its impact in gender rights.
