TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR A SOCIAL MEDIA INFLUENCER TO PROMOTE GENDER EQUALITY AND WOMEN’S LEADERSHIP

Post Title: Social Media Influencer

Assignment: Boost and actively engage social media platforms to promote gender equality and women’s leadership.

Project Title: Amplifying Women Leadership through Communication Arts (AWLCA)

BACKGROUND

Tanzania Media Women’s Association is a national Non-Governmental Organization founded in 1987 and dedicated to working towards promotion of the rights of women and children in Zanzibar. TAMWA -Zanzibar became fully fledged office in 2004 and was reregistered in 2007.

Currently, TAMWA ZNZ is implementing its four-month extension of its Amplifying Women Leadership through Communication Arts (AWLCA), this phase III project is designed to create journalists from TV, Print and Radio, social media and other advocates in the communication and creative field to highlight and advocate for more visibility of women’s role in governance and politics in Zanzibar.

  1. OBJECTIVE

TAMWA-ZNZ engages a Social Media Influencer to boost its social media platforms and strengthen online networks through interactive discussions that promote gender equality and women’s leadership.

  1. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SOCIAL MEDIA INFLUENCER

Social media influencer will specifically perform the following tasks;

  • Review TAMWA’s website and social media platforms.
  • Develop and share creative social media content that promotes gender equality and women’s leadership.
  • Engage audiences through interactive discussions, live sessions, and storytelling.
  • Amplify TAMWA-ZNZ campaigns and advocacy messages across social media platforms.
  • Monitor engagement analytics and provide brief timely performance updates.
  • Coordinate closely with the TAMWA-ZNZ communication team to ensure message consistency and branding.
  • Uphold professionalism and positive online representation of TAMWA-ZNZ’s values and initiatives.
  • Work closely with TAMWA – ZNZ responsible officer (Communication Manager) and shares monthly progress report for better performance of the assignment.
  1. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication, ICT, Public Relations, Gender Studies, or related fields.
  • Proven experience in social media content creation, influencing, and digital campaigns.
  • Strong understanding of gender equality, women’s leadership, and Zanzibar’s social context.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills in English and Kiswahili.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and meet content deadlines.
  1. EXPERIENCE

The Social Media Influencer should have at least three years experience in social media engagement, gender advocacy, and digital communication. Prior experience working with NGOs, gender-focused projects, or advocacy campaigns is an added advantage.

  1. TIMEFRAME

The session is expected to be carried out for two months from 15th September to 15th November 2025.
