1.0 INTRODUCTION ANDBACKGROUND
Tanzania Media Women’s Association is a national level Non-Governmental formed in 1987 dedicated to promote the rights of women and children. TAMWA- Zanzibar became fully fledged office in Unguja and Pemba since 2004 and registered in 2007.
TAMWA-Zanzibar is currently implementing the project titled “Strengthen Women in Leadership (SWIL)” aiming at increasing the participation of women in the democratic processes and leadership at all levels of the society so that women will be regarded as active and vibrant actors in leadership and democratic processes. The project is undertaken in all eleven districts of Zanzibar (seven districts in Unguja and four districts in Pemba). These are Unguja South, North, Urban, West A and West B and Pemba, Wete, Micheweni, Mkoani and Chakechake. The project is implemented in partnership between TAMWA Zanzibar, ZAFELA, JUWAUZA and PEGAO in Pemba with the support from Royal Norwegian Embassy.
As part of this initiative, content creators from both Unguja and Pemba will be trained to create ethical, gender-sensitive content that promotes and supports women’s leadership and democratic engagement.
2.0 OBJECTIVES
To build the capacity of content creators on gender equality, women’s leadership, and digital communication so they can produce compelling, ethical, and gender-responsive content that promotes women’s participation in leadership roles.
3.0 EXPECTED OUTPUTS
By the end of the training, content creators will be able to:
- Understand key gender concepts and the role of women in leadership.
- Analyze the democratic processes and the importance of women’s participation.
- Apply gender-sensitive storytelling approaches.
- Create content that challenges stereotypes and promotes women’s leadership.
4.0 QALIFICATION
The facilitator is expected to have:
- A Master’s degree or equivalent in Gender Studies, Leadership, Communication, or related field.
- Proven experience in gender advocacy and capacity-building.
- Strong understanding of Zanzibar’s socio-political context.
- Excellent presentation, facilitation, and communication skills in Kiswahili and English.
5.0 EXPERIENCES
The consultant should possess a minimum of five (5) years of experience working with media outlets or gender issues.
- ROLES OF THE CONSULTANT
- Review relevant documents and the Content Creators Guideline.
- Prepare training materials including PowerPoint presentations, group exercises, and practical case studies.
- Facilitate sessions on gender equality, women’s leadership, and democratic rights.
- Support participants to engage in group discussions and interactive learning.
- Provide real-world examples of successful women leaders and content strategies.
- Submit a facilitation report with key insights and recommendations.
7.0 TIME FRAME
The training will be conducted over six days in total:
Unguja: 14–16 May 2025
Pemba: 29–31 May 2025
